Overseen hundreds of significant medical malpractice/wrongful death cases, many with potential verdict range over one million dollars. Began as associate in October, 1997, have remained of counsel since the formation of Edward W. Martin, LLC.
Teach Appellate Advocacy to second year day and third year evening students appellate brief writing and oral argument technique and skills. Responsibilities include lecturing, instructing individual students on appellate brief writing and appellate oral argument and issuing course grades.
Civil litigation specializing in defense of automobile, premises liability and professional malpractice claims including defense of legal, medical, accounting, engineering, dental and chiropractic malpractice. Handled all aspects of the defense of such claims from the filing of initial pleadings through case resolution. Took thousands of party and expert depositions.
General litigation, concentrated in areas including personal injury, commercial, landlord/tenant, municipal, family and workers' compensation law. Handled complex litigation matters for real estate developer including land use, partnership/corporate disputes, commercial landlord/tenant and significant collection matters.
Reviewed and summarized motions, pleadings and briefs, performed legal research, prepared legal memoranda and opinions, and conferred with attorneys.
